The following year, Rittz released his second album titled Next to Nothing. On the album, he did collaborations with other artists under the Strange Music label that quickly lead to a large fan base. On April 30, 2013, The Life and Times of Jonny Valiant was released and was a huge success. With the label supporting him, he quickly began writing his debut album by pulling a few songs from his mixtapes. It was at this time that the founder of Strange Music, Tech N9ne, showed interest and signed Rittz to his label. The following year he put out another mixtape titled White Jesus: Revival. With solid support behind him, he made his first mixtape titled, White Jesus in 2011. While working with Yelawolf the fire rekindled, and Rittz started writing again. This would set in place one of the biggest strengths of his career. The collaboration with Yelawolf started a network with other artists who wanted him to be on their albums as well. In 2009, he received a random phone call from artist Yelawolf asking him to make a guest appearance on his new album, Trunk Muzik. He believed his rap career was over and was about to give up on music. With his career in financial turmoil, he was left homeless and only a few friends would allow him to stay with them. His career quickly fell flat due to the struggles of the music industry ( ). Upon winning the contest, he felt his career was taking off and would create the financial support he needed. In 2003, Rittz won the Battlegrounds Rap Competition at the local radio station, 107.9. After a while, the two had their differences and Rittz began doing solo work. The rap duo created music together for five years, but things never became professional.
By the age of fifteen, Rittz and his friend, Ralo started making their own music in his parent’s basement ( Facebook bio). Early influences of Snoop Dogg, Geto Boys, and The Goodie Mob planted the seeds of desire to become a rapper. It did not take long for him to start rhyming to the beat of other artists.
